Slanky® Magazine Issue 4: Forever

Redefining the print format.

*please do not share any of the following information with anyone from outside your organisation, we’d really like to keep our plans under wraps until this project is completely finished and we’re all ready to promote it together.

By definition, a “magazine” is a form of periodical publication that contains both images and articles, often based on a specific subject and/or aimed at a particular readership. The term “print publication” simply refers to any form of physical work that’s been made with the intention of distribution and/or sale to the public.

Neither definition actually states what a “print magazine” has to look like, does it? There’s already plenty of talented people creating print media the conventional way but after 3 years of doing the same, we think it’s time to shake things up a little… no more feeling like it’s just “another print magazine” is the aim! Instead of making a 4th 100+ page copy for people to flick through and add to their ever-rotating coffee table pile, this year, we want to make something different… we want to produce something that people can actually use, carry around with them and integrate into their daily lives… forever!

and we want you to be part of it!

The idea? A 4th print issue of our yearly magazine on a deck of fully playable playing cards. 48 music artists, creative geniuses, inspirational individuals and groups with the ace of each suit reserved for 4 different brands to advertise. The “Kings” and “Queens” are our cover stars… and we’re the joker! Each playing card will feature a photo, name, suit and number alongside a quickfire “forever” based Q+A (the playing card shown here is not what the final cards will look like, it’s just providing a reference).

The plan? We’ve booked ______________ studio in Shoreditch (London) for 2 days at the start of October… Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th to be precise! We’re inviting all 48 artists to drop-in, say hello and have their passport/school-photo style portrait taken. Alongside a playlist curated by Slanky®, we’ll have drinks provided by ______________ and food from ______________. A minimum of 30 seconds in person is all that’ll really be required for the photo(s) but we’d love it if people stuck around, got to know Slanky®, joined in with some additional content creation and helped us plan what’s next!

The result? 52 collaborations… a playing card deck full of physical promo tools to use between December 2025 and December 2026, each being a unique introduction to further collaboration between Slanky® and the carefully selected talents involved. Games nights, digital covers, magic tricks, pop-ups and signings throughout next year and beyond… you name it, let’s do it!
